Mashobra is a beautiful place, untouched by the noisy atmosphere
of cities. A hill station full of the most heavenly scenes of nature but a
quite place when observed too closely. To add to its beauty, a pedestrian track
leads down to Sipur, a village so beautiful and enchanting with pine and oak
woods framing the valley, cottages alongside apple orchards.
But one day, the valley got shrouded in a mysterious atmosphere.
A chilling breeze was blowing across the valley. Trees were making sounds as if
they were haunted by ghosts.
As the sun was bidding adieu to the day, the sparkling rays fell
on the hair of a woman running through the narrow lane alongside a cottage. She
sprinted across the narrow path on to the wild grass. With every step, her
heart pounded against her ribcage. Sun rays sprinkled over her sweat-soaked
skin. She kept on running, her sneakers smashing through the grass. like crawly
legs of a spider, branches of the bushes clawed on her skin tracing needle-thin
lines of red blood. She couldn’t even scream out of horror. Her lungs started to
burn for air. She thought of looking back to see the face of the shadow that
was chasing her but she could not take her eyes off the lane because she was
afraid she would fall. She ignored every bit of the tiredness and the call
of her muscles to slow down. She could not make out where exactly she was
headed to as this was the first time that she had come to this place. She could
feel the ghostly figure closing in on her. She tried her level best to increase
her pace but suddenly there was a blackout, she could feel the dirt below her
body and the stones, cold like ice crashing against her. Then she feels a hand
grasping her hair and pulling them hard. She felt a thin, cold and sharp metal
touching the skin of her neck. She thought about her parents, her family and
soon the metal does its work making thin line across her neck with blood
flowing through it.
